24/7 virtual receptionist for trades
Never miss a customer when you’re off the clock.
Callahand Digital answers your business calls when you cannot — after hours, on a job, or already on the phone. It finds out what the caller needs, checks your availability, books the appointment, and tells you what happened.
Every call opens with the receptionist saying it is an AI assistant.

What it does
A smarter way to handle every call.
Most calls to a service business are the same handful of questions. Callahand takes those, and makes sure the ones that really need you reach you with the details already attached.
Answers 24/7
Your number rings as it always has. When nobody picks up, or it is outside your hours, Callahand answers instead of a voicemail beep — evening, weekend, statutory holiday, or halfway through another job.
Qualifies every call
It asks what you would ask: what the job is, where they are, how soon they need somebody. It checks the address against the area you cover, and it answers the routine questions callers always have.
Books appointments
It offers times from your real availability and books the one the caller picks. A time is only ever reported as booked once your calendar has confirmed it — never because the conversation went well.
Keeps you informed
A written summary reaches you after every call: who rang, what they wanted, how urgent it sounded, and whether something still needs you. The full history sits in your dashboard.
- Says it is an AI assistant on every call
- Emergency handling is fixed rules, not a prompt
- Never confirms a booking your calendar did not
- Each business’s data kept separate from every other’s
One call, end to end
From a ringing phone to a booked job.
The same five stages every time, in the same order, whoever is calling and whatever hour it is.

Built for trades
Shaped around a business where the person who answers the phone is the person doing the work.
Not an enterprise contact-centre product with the features removed. If your customers ring you to book, to describe a problem, or to ask whether you cover their area, it fits the way you already work.

Why Callahand
Built to be honest with your callers.
- It answers when you have stopped. Evenings, weekends and the middle of a job — the hours when a missed call is most likely to be somebody who needed you today.
- The same answers every time. Your hours, your service area and your prices come from what you configured, not from whoever happened to pick up.
- It never hangs up on a caller. Your receptionist keeps answering after your included minutes are used. Calls are never cut off.
- It does not pretend to be a person. The AI disclosure is part of the call and cannot be quietly switched off.
- It will not invent an answer. If it does not know, it says so and notes that you need to follow up — rather than guessing at a price or promising a time nobody confirmed.
- Safety comes before the script. You define what counts as an emergency for your trade. When a caller describes one, that handling takes over the call.
Security & privacy
Your customers’ details are business data, and treated that way.
Built and hosted in North America. Each business’s data is kept separate from every other’s, and that separation is enforced where the data is read rather than by what a screen chooses to show.
No call recordings
Callahand does not store recordings or transcripts. What it keeps is the structured outcome.
Separated by design
Every read and write is authorised server-side against the business it belongs to. Nothing trusts an identifier sent by a browser.
Only what is needed
We collect what a call actually requires and keep it only as long as it is useful to you.
Questions
The four people ask first.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep the number your customers already have. Calls reach Callahand when nobody picks up or when you are outside the hours you set, and they reach you the rest of the time.
Will callers know they are talking to an AI?
Yes, and that is not configurable. The receptionist identifies itself as an AI assistant at the start of every call. It is built into the product rather than left to a setting, because a setting is something that can be switched off.
What happens if somebody has an emergency?
You define what counts as an emergency for your trade — gas, smoke, carbon monoxide, flooding, whatever applies. When a caller describes one, that handling takes over the call and ordinary intake stops. It is written as fixed rules with its own tests, not as an instruction to a model that might be persuaded otherwise.
Is the call recorded?
Callahand does not store call recordings or transcripts. What it keeps is the structured outcome — who rang, what they needed, what was booked — which is what you actually use the next morning. The telephony and voice providers that carry the call have their own terms; our privacy policy names them.
